Competitions play a vital role in culinary arts as they continually raise the standards of culinary excellence. There is no better way for a culinarian to hone their craft than by putting their skills and knowledge to the test in a competitive format.
On January 13-15, 2012, the ACF Mad City Chapter is hosting an ACF-sanctioned Culinary Competition at Madison Area Technical College at 3550 Anderson Street in Madison.
Competition Categories Include:
Cooking, Professional, Individual (Category A or B)
Includes cold platters, appetizers or multi-course menus.
Patisserie/Confectionery, Professional, Individual (Category C)
Includes cakes or desserts.
Live Action Fruit / Vegetable Carving Mystery Basket (Category E-1)
Crate and display showpiece from mystery basket of fruits and vegetables.
Hot Food Competitions, Professional
Competitors will prepare a four-course menu, live.
Mystery Basket, Professional, Individual (Category F-1)
Mystery Basket, Professional, two-man team (Category F-2)
Nutritional Hot Food Challenge (Category F-4)
Practical and Contemporary Hot-Food Cooking, Professional, Individual (Category K, 1-9)
Competitors prepare a main course in one of nine categories.
Practical and Contemporary Patisserie, Professional, Individual
Competitors prepare desserts of their choice, live.
Hot /Warm Dessert (Category P-1)
Composed Cold Dessert (Category P-2)
