The Golden Raiders from Sheboygan North won first place in the Knowledge Bowl segment of the 2003 ProStart® Invitational, a statewide high school competition held this March in Milwaukee. Fourteen teams from 12 schools competed in this year's competition, which consisted of two events: a Culinary Competition and Knowledge Bowl. Foodservice industry professionals and college educators judged contestants on teamwork, presentation, cooking procedures, sanitation and more. First place in the Culinary Competition went to the Preble Hornets A team from Green Bay. Second place went to the Culinary Leaders of Watertown, while third place went to the South Milwaukee Rockets B team. First place in the Knowledge Bowl went to the Golden Raiders from Sheboygan North, consisting of Greg Kruse, Patrick Trester and Matt Wiltzius. Their instructor is Karen Sullivan. Second place went to the Stoughton Senior Chefs. The South Milwaukee Rockets B team took third place. The overall winner was the South Milwaukee Rockets B team, consisting of Michael Vielleux, Carlos Mercado, Noor Ckadan and Sara Fare. Their instructors are Trude Mihalovich and Jill Goeltz.
