“We are fortunate to have so many talented motivated students who have chosen to pursue a career in the foodservice profession,” said Susan Quam, Executive Director of the WRA Education Foundation.

Scholarships are made possible by generous contributions of individuals in the foodservice industry.  According to Quam, “The WRA Education Foundation would not be able to award as many scholarships as we do if it were not for the generosity of the individual restaurateurs, organizations and supplier companies that have contributed to the Foundation's Endowment Fund. As a result of their support, we are able to increase the amount of scholarships awarded to deserving students each year.”

Founded in 1987, the WRA EF is among the largest state restaurant association foundations in the nation.  The WRA Education Foundation strives to create a promising future for the foodservice industry by raising awareness of foodservice as a professional career path, providing ongoing training and education for foodservice professionals and serving as a state leader on food safety and sanitation.

- END -

The WRA Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has been in existence since 1987 and is one of the nation’s largest state restaurant association foundations. The WRA EF vision is to advance professionalism through education, scholarships and community involvement to ensure the future success of the foodservice industry.

The ProStart® program, administered by National Restaurant Association Solutions, LLC and state restaurant associations, is a college prep, two-year curriculum designed to teach high school students the skills needed for a career in the restaurant and foodservice industry.  Students also have the opportunity to participate in paid internships where industry managers mentor them.
